The Peruvian Leaf mantis (Pseudoxyops perpulchra) is a beautiful mantis that is native to Peru, and has also been found in areas of Ecuador, Bolivia, and Brazil. Although they are rare in the hobby, they are not very difficult to care for.  As long as you can maintain their humidity and temperature requirements, you should be very successful with this species! They should be kept between 73°F and 82°F, and between 50% to 70% relative humidity (RH).

This species is the only mantis whose leaf mimicry is of green “living” leaves, as opposed to dead ones, and the uncanny resemblance of their wings to real leaves is astounding! The green wings of the adult female even has veins like real leaves do!

They are currently eating fruit flies Be sure to have the proper prey items on hand when your mantis arrives.
